| Biochem/physiol Actions: | FGFR1 (fibroblast growth factor receptor 1) helps in the growth of nervous system. It also controls the skeletal development and bone homeostasis. FGFR1 mutations lead to craniosynostosis and facial abnormalities. Mutation in FGFR1 Ig-like domain II-III linker region (FGFR1 P252R) results in Pfeiffer syndrome. |

| General description: | FGF encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This protein functions as a modifier of endothelial cell migration and proliferation, as well as an angiogenic factor. It acts as a mitogen for a variety of mesoderm- and neuroectoderm-derived cells in vitro, thus is thought to be involved in organogenesis. Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been described. |
| General description: | FGFR1 (fibroblast growth factor receptor 1) gene codes for 9 isoforms of FGFR1. It has 19 exons spanning 55kb DNA. It is located on human chromosome 8p11.1. High level expression of FGFR1 is seen in midfacial membranous ossification sites. It is mostly present in neurons like hippocampal and dentate gyrus neurons. |
| Immunogen: | Peptide sequence around aa. 152-156 (A-P-Y-W-T), according to the protein FGFR1. |
