| Biochem/physiol Actions: | CDH1 (cadherin 1) helps to conserve the homophilic cell-cell adhesion in epithelial tissues. Inadequate expression of CDH1 results in colon cancer and renal cell carcinoma (RCC). |

| General description: | Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. CDH1 is involved in mechanisms regulating cell-cell adhesions, mobility and proliferation of epithelial cells. Has a potent invasive suppressor role. It is a ligand for integrin alpha-E/beta-7. E-Cad/CTF2 promotes non-amyloidogenic degradation of Abeta precursors. Has a strong inhibitory effect on APP C99 and C83 production. |
| General description: | CDH1 (cadherin 1) codes for a transmembrane glycoprotein E-cadherin that is located on human chromosome 16q22.1. It is a tumor suppressor gene, which is also known as Cdh1p/Hct1p, Fizzy-related, Ste9, or Srw1. |
| General description: | The antibody detects endogenous level of total E-Cadherin protein. |
| Immunogen: | Peptide sequence around aa. 864-868 (E-W-G-N-R), according to the protein NP_004351.1 |
