| General description: | Actin/ actin β(ACTB) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 7p15-p12. In mammals, actin protein consists of six different isoforms encoded by separate genes. The four isoforms αskeletal-actin, αcardiac-actin, αsmooth-actin, and γ smooth-actin are expressed in skeletal, cardiac and smooth muscle. The other two isoforms, β cyto-actin and γ cyto-actin are ubiquitously expressed. |
