| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Protein kinase C α (PRKCA) is a serine-threonine kinase. It is associated with tumorigenesis, invasion, apoptosis, differentiation, angiogenesis and metastasis. Downregulation of PKCA inhibits the invasion of urinary bladder, colon, renal cell, breast carcinomas, multiple myeloma, glioma and endometrial cancer cells. In endothelial cells, PRKCA-mediated phosphorylation of TRPC1 (transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily C member 1) regulates store operated Ca2+ entry. |
