| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Transforming acidic coiled-coil-containing protein 3 (TACC3) plays a critical role in microtubule nucleation at the centrosome. It is involved in the regulation of microtubule nucleation at the centrosome and functions in the stabilization of the γ-tubulin ring complex assembly. It plays an essential role in spindle assembly and centrosome integrity during mitosis as well as for cellular survival. It may act as a potential therapeutic target in cancer cells. TACC3 is aberrantly expressed in a variety of human cancers. It acts as a driver of tumorigenesis as well as an inducer of oncogenic EMT. |
