It is the smallest NIMA-related kinase (NEK) protein seen in mammals, which is made up of a catalytic domain with a 30–40 amino acid N-terminal extension. NEK7 is abundantly expressed in the heart, liver, testis, lung, muscle, brain, spleen, and leukocyte. The NEK7 gene is located on human chromosome 1. |
