| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Death associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1) acts as a death-inducing factor in response to interferon (IFN)-γ, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and transforming growth factor (TGF)-β. It also induces autophagy, proliferation, and immune response to inflammatory signals. DAPK1 promotes the growth of p53-mutant cancers, including pancreatic and ovarian cancers. Therefore, downregulation of DAPK1 can be a potential therapeutic strategy for treating P53 mutant cancers. Overexpression of DAPK1 protein has been observed in Alzheimer′s disease (AD) patients. |
