| Biochem/physiol Actions: | CDK activating kinase assembly factor MNAT1 or MAT1 is functionally associated with the general transcription/DNA repair factor TFIIH. It is an assembly factor that targets subunits of both cyclin-dependent kinase-activating kinase (CAK) and TFIIH kinase. MAT1 regulates cell cycle and transcription. This protein associates with cyclin H and cyclin-dependent kinase 7 (CDK7) and forms the CDK-activating kinase (CAK) complex. The complex activates several cyclin-associated kinases, regulates cell cycle progression and activates RNA polymerase II-mediated transcription. |
