PECAM1 is essential for leukocyte transmigration via intercellular junctions of vascular endothelial cells. Genetic polymorphism of PECAM1 is associated with atherosclerotic events. PECAM1, is a membrane glycoprotein that facilitates both homophilic and heterophilic adhesion. PECAM1 is also implicated in angiogenesis. |
