| Biochem/physiol Actions: | PLK1 (polo like kinase 1) is predominantly involved in mitosis. It mediates the phosphorylation of cyclin B1/CDK1 (cyclin dependent kinase 1) complex, and activation of the anaphase promoting complex. PLK1 has anti-apoptotic function. Upregulation of gene is observed in different types of cancer, such as colorectal cancer and is regarded as an oncogene. PLK1 is involved in checkpoint recovery and adaptation following DNA damage. |
