| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Transforming growth factor-β2 (TGFB2) protein plays a key role in transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling pathway. It aids in binding several TGF-β receptors to recruit and stimulate the others against decapentaplegic homolog SMAD protein family. TGF-β2 is involved in the proliferation and metastasis of glioma cells. It is implicated in metabolic syndrome (MetS). Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in TGFB2 are also associated with end-stage renal disease and conotruncal heart defects. |
