| Biochem/physiol Actions: | WASP (Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein) is regarded as a scaffold protein that integrates cell surface signals to actin cytoskeleton. WASP gene regulates actin polymerization, contributing to T-cell activation and migration. Neural WASP is known to regulate a variety of cellular processes including pathogen infection, vesicle trafficking, invadopodium formation and growth, and neurite extension. Mutation in this gene causes WAS, a X-linked recessive immunodeficiency disorder. |
