Aberrations in exon 17 of insulin receptor (INSR) gene result in PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). It plays a key role in insulin metabolism. Mutations in INSR results in insulin-resistant syndromes like leprechaunism (donohue syndrome), rabson–mendenhall syndrome and type A insulin resistance. |
