Mutations in connexin 43 (Cx43) gene result in pleiotropic phenotype of oculodentodigital dysplasia. CX43 helps to release lactate from glycolytic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells. |

| General description: | Connexin 43 (Cx43) is also known as GJA1 (gap junction protein alpha 1) and belongs to a large family of homologous connexin proteins. This protein has an intracellular N-terminus, four transmembrane domains, two extracellular loops, one cytoplasmic loop and an intracellular C-terminus. It is located on human chromosome 6q22-q23. |
