This 75kDa endothelial protein has a capacity to differentiate into multiple mesenchymal lineages such as hematopoiesis supportive stromal cells with a vascular smooth muscle like phenotype, as well as adipocytes, osteoblasts and chondrocytes. STRO-1 antibody has been used to separate stromal precursors from freshly aspirated bone marrow (BM) cell suspensions. |
