| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Forkhead box P3 (FOXP3) plays an essential role in the development of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells and regulates immune homeostasis. It also acts as a transcriptional repressor. Polyadenylation signal mutation of the gene leads to immune dysregulation, polyendocrinopathy, enteropathy and X-linked inheritance (IPEX). Abnormalities in the gene expression are also associated with the pathogenesis of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA). |
