Application: 3-Ethoxy-5,6-dibromosalicylaldehyde was used to study modulation of autophagy, JNK activation and NF-κB-mediated inflammation.
Biochem/physiol Actions: 3-Ethoxy-5,6-dibromosalicylaldehyde is a non-competitive inhibitor of Inositol-requiring enzyme 1 (IRE1). It inhibits XBP-1 splicing induced pharmacologically in human cells. 3-Ethoxy-5,6-dibromosalicylaldehyde potently inhibits the endoribonuclease of IRE1 but does not inhibit RNases A, T1, or L.
