Biochem/physiol Actions: It has the ability to prevent leukemia cell growth in vitro.
Biochem/physiol Actions: K145 (3-(2-amino-ethyl)-5-[3-(4-butoxyl-phenyl)-propylidene]-thiazolidine-2,4-dione) is a selective inhibitor of sphingosine kinase-2 (SphK2) and an anticancer agent. K145 selectively inhibited SphK2 in a dose-dependent manner with an IC50 of 4.30 +/- 0.06 μM with no inhibition of SphK1 at concentrations up to 10 μM. K145 significantly suppressed the growth of U937 tumors in nude mice and the growth of JC tumor cells in BALB/c mice.
