Biochem/physiol Actions: Rostafuroxin is a derivative of digitoxigenin. It protects animal models against podocyte lesions and proteinuria by counteracting mutant β-adducin and ouabain-mediated effects.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Rostafuroxin is a digitoxygenin derivative that selectively antagonizes the effects of endogenous ouabain on the Na+,K+-ATPase, which maintains sodium and potassium ion gradients across plasma membranes. Rostafuroxin lowers blood pressure (BP) in animal models of hypertension.
