| General description: | Sulfuretin is an aurones flavonoid found in the extract of Rhus verniciflua. The Extract of Rhus verniciflua is known in the traditional medicine and scientific community to have anti-cancer properties.Sulfuretin, one of the major constituents of Rhus verniciflua extract was found to have anti-cancer activities via activation of caspase-3 and inhibition of PARP. Moreover, sulfuretin downregulates cyclin D proteins by increasing the expression of miR-30C, a tumor suppressor micro RNA that is studied in regulation of cell proliferation.2 Structure-activity relationships (SAR) of Sulfuretin analogs inhibits the proliferation of leukemia cancer line panel in vitro and in vivo in zebrafish and mice models.Furthermore, Sulfuretin 100mg/Kg in vivo study was beneficial in treating lymphoedema in mice.In addition, Sulfuretin has several other activities such as: • Sulfuretin is an anti-adipogenic agent, suppressing the adipogenic factors C/EBPα, C/EBPβ and PPARγ, which are crucial regulators at the initial step of adipogenesis. • Sulfuretin is a potent antioxidant which protects SH-SY5Y cell line from 6-OHDA induced ROS. • Sulfuretin has antiviral activity through the inhibition of influenza virus neuraminidase in IC50 of 36μM. |
