Biochem/physiol Actions: | IGFBP-2 (insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2) interacts with integrins and extracellular matrix via arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) and heparin-binding motifs. It participates in cell detachment, migration and invasion. IGFBP-2 is also associated with various malignancies, including ovarian cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, glioma and leukemia. It is suggested as a serum biomarker of Lupus Nephritis and is associated with the chronicity of renal pathology in patients. IGFBP-2 is upregulated in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. |
General description: | IGFBPs (insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins) are mainly required to regulate IGFs (insulin-like growth factors) activities. IGFBP-2 belongs to the IGFBP family of proteins. The protein has a IGF-binding site and a thyroglobulin type-1 domain. It interacts with IGF1 and IGF2. IGFBP-2 is widely expressed in tissues. This gene is mapped to human chromosome 2q35. Recombinant human IGF-BP2 is a 31.5kDa protein consisting of 289 amino acid residues including the IGF-BP domain and thyroglobulin type-I domain. |

Reconstitution: | Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C. |
