| Application: | Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) human has been used:• to study the role of interleukin (IL)-1β receptor in cell senescence induced by doxorubicin • to block the IL-1β binding to its receptor • to understand the role of autocrine interleukin-1β (IL-1β) signaling downstream of cl- in RPS27 modulation |
| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) inhibits the activity of IL-1α and IL-1β by competitively blocking binding to their type I and type II receptors. Therapeutically, IL-1RA may help in the treatment of sepsis, cachexia, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic myelogenous leukemia, asthma, psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease. |
| General description: | Research area: Immunology & cytokines Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) is a naturally occurring inflammatory inhibitor protein. IL-1Ra is produced by corneal epithelial cells, monocytes, neutrophils, macrophages, and fibroblasts. Recombinant human IL-1Ra is a 17.2kDa protein consisting of 153 amino acid residues. |
| Physical form: | Lyophilized from 20 mM Tris, pH 8.0. |
| Preparation Note: | Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C. |
