| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Interleukin-3 (IL-3) is a hematopoietic growth factor. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 5. It has a role in cell proliferation and activates different signaling cascades. It is crucial for the differentiation of hematopoietic-derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs). The differentiation of erythroid cells, mast cells and granulocytes is stimulated by IL-3. The protein has been linked to schizophrenia. |
| General description: | IL-3 is a species-specific colony-stimulating factor that stimulates colony formation of megakaryocytes, neutrophils, and macrophages from bone marrow cultures. Recombinant human IL-3 is a 15.0 kDa protein containing 133 amino acid residues. |
| Physical form: | Lyophilized without additives. |
| Preparation Note: | Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles. |
| Preparation Note: | Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. The solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers. |
