| Biochem/physiol Actions: | MSK2 (mitogen- and stress-activated protein kinase-2) phosphorylates various substrates like cyclic AMP-responsive element-binding protein 1 (CREB1) and the proto-oncogene c-fos. It is a histone-modifying enzyme and a mitogenic factor. The protein is involved in the G1-phase of the cell cycle and has a role in apoptosis. It also modulates the functions of various transcription factors. |
