Biochem/physiol Actions: | Studies in mice with null mutation for LAG3 (lymphocyte activation gene 3) gene show that this protein is involved in pathways involving natural killer (NK) cells, as in these mice, NK cells are incapable of killing certain tumor targets. This protein is expressed by activated CD4+ T cells, which results in the production of IFN-γ (interferon). This protein is thought to interact with MHC II (major histocompatibility class) molecules on immature DCs (dendritic cells), thus activating and maturing APCs (antigen presenting cells). |
General description: | LAG3 (lymphocyte activation gene 3), first identified in activated natural killer cells (NK cells), is a transmembrane protein belonging to the Ig (immunoglobulin) superfamily. It is composed of four extracellular Ig-like domains, and the outermost domain has an unusual loop-like insertion. This cell is expressed in activated NK and T cells. |
Physical form: | Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH7.4. Generally 5-8% Mannitol or trehalose is added as a protectant before lyophilization. |
Reconstitution: | Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile PBS, pH 7.4 to a concentration of 50 μg/mL. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 month. For extended storage, it is recommended to store at -20°C. |
