Biochem/physiol Actions: | IL-13Rα2 (interleukin 13 receptor subunit α 2) induces the progression, migration and invasion of glioma cells. It has the ability to initiate Scr (selective catalytic reduction), phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K), Akt (signaling pathway) and mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin). IL-13Rα2 chain plays a key role in IL-13 cytotoxin-mediated therapy. It is expressed at high levels in several human tumors such as oral squamous cell carcinoma, breast cancer, clear cell renal cell carcinoma, hepatic cell cancer, ovarian cancer and colorectal cancer. |
General description: | IL13RA2 is closely related to Il13RA1, a subunit of the interleukin 13 receptor complex. This protein binds IL13 with high affinity, but lacks cytoplasmic domain, and does not appear to function as a signal mediator. It is reported to play a role in the internalization of IL13. Recombinant human IL13RA2 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli. |
General description: | IL13Rα2 (interleukin 13 receptor subunit alpha 2) is a 42 kDa monomeric high affinity IL13 receptor. This gene is located on human chromosome Xq. |
