| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Cadherin-1 (CDH1) stabilizes the cell adhesion in normal cells and also helps in signaling via association with β catenin. Mutations in the CDH1 gene are linked with oral clefts in the Thai population. CDH1 works as a tumor suppressor in various cancers. Low expression of CDH1 increases cellular invasive and metastatic potential. For instance, low expression of this gene is associated with poor survival of patients with esophageal cancer. |
