| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Interleukin 17 receptor A (IL17RA) offers protection against pathogenic infection as it plays an important role in host defence mechanism. IL17RA deficiency might lead to the risk of chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis. IL-17A is a proinflammatory cytokine and its immune response is mediated by IL17RA. |
| General description: | Interleukin 17 receptor A (IL17RA), also known as cluster of differentiation w217 (CDw217), is a pro-inflammatory cytokine secreted by activated T-lymphocytes. IL 17RA associates with IL 17RC to form a signaling receptor complex for IL17 and IL17F. Ligand and IL 17RA ligation promotes T cell activation and the production of IL - 6, G-CSF, SCF, and multiple pro-inflammatory chemokines. Defects in IL17RA are the cause of familial candidiasis type 5 (CANDF5). The IL17RA (Interleukin 17 receptor A) gene is mapped to human chromosome 22q11.1 and is expressed ubiquitously and exhibits a broad tissue distribution. |
