Biochem/physiol Actions: | Cluster of differentiation 16B (CD16B) or Fcγ RIIIB (FcγRIIIb) is the low affinity receptor for the Fc region of immunoglobulin γ. It binds complexed or aggregated IgG and also to monomeric IgG. Contrary to CD16A, CD16B is not capable to mediate antibody-dependent cytotoxicity and phagocytosis. CD16B may serve as a trap for immune complexes in the peripheral circulation, which does not activate neutrophils. |
General description: | Cluster of differentiation 16 (CD16) is a low affinity type 1 transmembrane Fc receptor. It possesses two Ig-like extracellular domains. Cd16 has been identified as two isoforms, Fc receptors FcγRIIIa (CD16a) and FcγRIIIb (CD16b). These receptors bind to the Fc portion of IgG antibodies. CD16 encoded by two different highly homologous genes in a cell type-specific manner. CD16 is found on the surface of natural killer cells, neutrophil polymorphonuclear leukocytes, monocytes and macrophages. CD16B also known as FCGR3B and FCG3B, is expressed specifically by polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) and stimulated eosinophils. |
Physical form: | Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH7.4. Normally Mannitol or Trehalose is added as protectants before lyophilization. |
Reconstitution: | Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile PBS, pH 7.4 to a concentration of 50 μg/mL. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 month. For extended storage, it is recommended to store at -20°C. |
