Biochem/physiol Actions: | Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B cell maturation and proliferation and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1β, in most situations requires the inflammasome complex to be cleaved and secreted. This protein may modulate the effects of eosinophils in the intestine. |
General description: | Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) is produced by activated macrophages. It belongs to the IL-1 family of proteins that are involved in the inflammatory response. |
Other Notes: | Mouse IL-1beta (aa 118-269) is untagged. |
