General description: | Microtubules are composed of tubulin and several additional proteins designated microtubule associated proteins (MAPs). Tubulin is a heterodimer which consists of an α-chain and a β-chain, both of which have a molecular weight of approximately 55,000. Microtubules form an elaborate cytoplasmic network during interphase and are reorganized into the mitotic spindle during cell division. |
General description: | Tubulin is an extremely conserved and negatively charged protein. It is expressed in all eukaryotic cells, but mainly in brains. |
Immunogen: | microtubule proteins from brains of 13 day old chicken embryos |
Specificity: | The product stains tubulin in cultured chicken fibroblasts or 3T3 mouse fibroblasts. Additional bands may be stained in immunoblotting. |
