Biochem/physiol Actions: Potassium two pore domain channel subfamily K member 2 (KCNK2) possesses a potassium channel activity. It has a role in stabilizing the resting membrane potential of cells. The protein is also involved in the development of rat heart. TREK-1 could act as a drug target to treat acute heart ischemia.

General description: Potassium two pore domain channel subfamily K member 2 (KCNK2), also known as TWIK-related K+ channel-1 (TREK1), is expressed in the spinal cord, bladder and dorsal root ganglion. It is part of the TREK family.
Immunogen: synthetic peptide (DPKSA AQNSK PRLSF STKC) corresponding to the intracellular, amino terminus of human TREK-1 (amino acid residues 8-28).
Physical form: Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% bovine serum albumin and 0.05% sodium azide.
Specificity: The antibody reacts with rat TREK-1 (confirmed). It is expected that the antibody will also react with human and mouse TREK-1 due to sequence homology (17/18).
