Biochem/physiol Actions: | Protein inhibitor of Cdk2 kinase |
Biochem/physiol Actions: | Wee1 is a protein tyrosine kinase that phosphorylates Cdc2 on Tyr15 and hence inactivates the CDK1 and CDK2, which facilitates in the negative regulation of entry of cells into mitosis. Increased level of wee1 stimulates Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1 (HIV-1) Vpr induced cell cycle arrest at G2/M transition followed by apoptosis. |
Physical form: | Solution in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, 1 mM EDTA, 1 mM DTT, 10% Glycerol |
Unit Definition: | One unit of Wee 1 is defined as the amount of Wee 1 which inhibits 90% of the activity of 10 units of Cdk2 |
