| Biochem/physiol Actions: | The gene APBB2 (amyloid β precursor protein binding family B member 2), also referred to as FE65-like 1, encodes an adaptor protein that binds to the cytoplasmic domain of β-amyloid precursor protein (βAPP) and processes it to form β-amyloid (Aβ). Over-expression of APBB2 leads to an accumulation of Aβ in senile plaques seen in patients with Alzheimer′s disease (AD). Mutations in this gene have been associated with AD. |

| General description: | The protein encoded by this gene interacts with the cytoplasmic domains of amyloid beta (A4) precursor protein and amyloid beta (A4) precursor-like protein 2. This protein contains two phosphotyrosine binding (PTB) domains, which are thought to function in signal transduction. (provided by RefSeq) |
