Biochem/physiol Actions: | Cofilin-l (CFL1) plays a vital role in the regulation of actin cytoskeleton reorganization. It is also implicated in cancer cell migration and invasion in several types of tumor tissues. Elevated expression of the gene is associated with the development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). In addition, abnormal expression of the gene leads to vulvar cancer and thus, it can be considered as a potential therapeutic target for the same. CFL1 facilitates cytokinesis, cell motility and morphogenesis. Activated CFL1 helps in preventing cytoskeletal-associated defects in axonal development stimulated by synucleins (Syns). |

General description: | Cofilin is a widely distributed intracellular actin-modulating protein that binds and depolymerizes filamentous F-actin and inhibits the polymerization of monomeric G-actin in a pH-dependent manner. It is involved in the translocation of actin-cofilin complex from cytoplasm to nucleus. |
General description: | The cofilin 1 (CFL1) gene with four exons is mapped to human chromosome 11q13.1. The gene codes for an ubiquitously expressed, 18.5kDa phosphoprotein. |
Immunogen: | CFL1 (AAH11005, 1 a.a. ~ 166 a.a) full-length recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa. Sequence MASGVAVSDGVIKVFNDMKVRKSST |
