Biochem/physiol Actions: Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a parathyroid-secreted polypeptide hormone that increases the level of calcium in blood by enhancing calcium mobilization from bone. It also increases the calcium: phosphate ratio in the kidney and promotes the absorption of calcium by the intestines. PTH acts as an anabolic agent that improves osteoblastic bone development.

General description: Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a polypeptide hormone, synthesized via parathyroid gland. The 84 amino acid PTH protein is processed by Kupffer cells of the liver to give an N-terminal fragment (PTH 1-37) and a C-terminal fragment (PTH 38-84). The N-terminal fragment is crucial for the biological functions. The gene encoding PTH is localized on human chromosome 11p15.
Immunogen: PTH (NP_000306, 32 a.a. ~ 115 a.a) recombinant protein.
