It acts as a hub protein in direct interaction with E3 ligase, MDM2. It links and holds E2-E3 network together for the ubiquitination activity, which finally transfer the ubiquitin to the E3-bound substrate. The protein also plays a role in the protein degradation process of misfolded and short-lived proteins. |
