Biochem/physiol Actions: | Cefotaxim inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) which inhibits the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls. As a result, bacteria lyse due to cell wall autolytic enzymes. |
