Application: | • Microfluidic device for multiple emulsions: Discusses the development of a microfluidic device using PTFE tubing to generate multiple emulsions, with applications in pharmaceuticals and material science (Khalilnezhad A, Sahraei E, Cortes FB, Riazi M, 2023 ). • Cell Microencapsulation within Gelatin-PEG Microgels: Uses PTFE tubing in a simple pipet tip-based device for cell microencapsulation, important for biomedical applications such as tissue engineering (Nguyen TPT, Li F, Hung B, Truong VX, Thissen H, Forsythe JS, Frith JE, 2023 ). • Finned Tubular Air Gap Membrane Distillation: Introduces a finned tubular design with PTFE membranes for optimizing distillation processes, potentially impacting desalination and wastewater treatment (Wu Z, Guo F, 2023 ). • Expanded PTFE/Graphite Composites for Water/Oil Separation: Develops PTFE/graphite composites to enhance the efficiency of water/oil separation, offering benefits for environmental protection and industrial processes (Aturaliya R, Wang D, Xu Y, Lin YJ, Li Q, Turng LS, 2020 ). |
General description: | Economical, flexible PTFE tubing is ideal for use at pressures up to 500 psi (35 kg/cm2). Use in automatic analyzer, postcolumn reaction, preparative scale systems, in-stream sampling devices, and when monitoring physiologically important compounds. The maximum recommended operating temperature for PTFE is 200 °C, but short term exposure to higher temperatures seldom causes damage. |
